Truro City skipper faces race against time to be fit for the start of new season (by Rhod Mitchell West Briton)

Truro City skipper Jake Ash is hopeful of being ready for the start of the new season after suffering a metatarsal injury in last night’s 1-1 draw against Oxford United.

Ash hobbled off late in the game after being caught by a challenge from Oxford’s Josh Ashby.

And after a visit last night to A & E, he said today that he had suffered a broken metatarsal, but only a “slight” one.

“I reckon I will be OK for the start of the new season but it will be a bit of a case of suck it and see.”
City’s opening Calor League Premier Division game is at home to Bedford Town on Saturday August 17 and they will be desperately hoping Ash is fit to lead the team out at Treyew Road.
