City Alerts: Chesham United/2nd Team Match Tuesday Night/England Game/Real Ales etc. £2.00 per Pint

Following the trip to Chesham via an overnight stay near Heathrow, the 4-2 defeat and news that Bideford had beat Bedford 4-0, it was a very long journey Home. The positives I took from the weekend were the super team spirit matched only by our supporter’s enthusiasm.

As for the match itself I admit that I was apprehensive from the moment I woke up on Saturday morning as in my mind this was the “where we are game”, as it turned out we played some very good football having Chesham chasing around on numerous occasions but a couple of mistakes put us on the back foot and there was sadly no way back.

Importantly we never gave up and continued to press forward right to the very end.  Matt Andrew deserves a special mention for that superb goal, it was an absolute blinder which managed to silence my opposite number for a few seconds! Our Steep learning curb continues, importantly Steve and his support team have all positions covered, in hand and the team continues to improve to my complete satisfaction. I am looking forward to Saturday’s FA first qualifying round at Home against Street.

Tomorrow evening our second Team play Foxhole at Home kick off 7:30pm.  Given that we all had an expensive weekend, I am pleased to announce that all draught beers including Tribute, London Pride, Dartmoor Legend, Guinness, Cornish Rattler, San Miguel, Carlsberg etc. will be £2.00 per pint yes £2.00 per pint for the entire evening so there is no excuse not to support Truro’s second team, especially when the England game is also being shown as well!. Bar/Turnstiles open from 6.00pm.

In addition to all this Steve Massey will be in attendance primarily to watch the game but I am sure will be happy to answer any questions about any of the Teams and performances etc. to date. I look forward to seeing you there.

  1. It was a good workmanlike performance by the whole team playing the kind of football the purist like to see, almost there, if we cut out the unexpected errors and get a settled pairing up front we will be there.

We have the team to experience a good FA Cup run, if lady luck helps us with the cup draws we could go a long way, it's about time Cornwall again had a team reaching the 1st round proper.

    Good luck lads.

  2. We indeed played excellent football for most of the first half and again in short patches in the second. Until we conceded, in fact we looked to me a class above and it was a bit of a shock to be two down just before half time. The match was enjoyable and we need only to tighten up at the back to be a very good team. In terms of the support, what a pity to hear so much abuse hurled at the officials by one or two of the Truro band and unnecessary obscenity in the chanting throughout. Embarrassing to be Cornish at times and with a younger element in the crowd on non league day what a shocking example. I could really not consider bringing my family along whilst supporters and one or two players subject the crowd to a barrage of swearing. A good day spoiled.

    2. I agree there was one one outburst which was very loud but I would call that passion. Re the players' language, if that offends you, then I think you may be following the wrong sport.

  3. How can you be embarrassed whilst remaining anonymous? Were you at AFC Totton? no two games are the same but there the officials also took stick without abuse but deserved their critics, this is not park football, these officials get paid, we have a right to complain about poor service in the only avenue open to us, word of mouth, the football authorities will not listen if we mention poor officials, they are never wrong. I will agree the chanting may have been a little excessive with swear words at times but the actions of the officials can be enough to make a saint swear. Although Non League Day and I was only asked for £3 I still paid the normal Chesham (£2 more than Truro for an OAP) admission because clubs at City's level need as much revenue as they can muster.
I identify myself because I think it right that if someone thinks I am wrong they can mention to me the error of my ways, it has always been recognised that when attending what WAS a male dominated sport some swearing may be encountered but boy oh boy those women can out do us males if upset enough. You will have no problems at Treyew Road, the HOME crowd find it hard to raise a cheer let alone a chant lol.

Wear the City colours with pride.

    1. Yes Ivor your right about the officials in which other job can do so badly week in week out and not get the sack as for the chanting with the odd swear word included i ask you a what other football ground this is not heard it's part and parcel of football at all levels but to say Treyew fans make no noise on match days is wrong if it wasn't for the 30-50 hardcore fans who do sing(mostly TISA fans) then you would be right "come on you WHITE TIGERS" wear the colours with pride

  4. Officiating is not an easy number! If officials are biased then fair enough give them a hard time. Most calls are just seeing things differently though. I don't think their motivation is the money. I am a Cornish exile working in London. I go to Cornwall regularly and along to Tregew. Road. I thought Chesham were a welcoming bunch and always wear my Cornish roots with pride be it supporting City or Cornish rugby or St Pirans in the city.

  7. Really enjoy watching city. The vocal support is great and valued. There is no way I could bring the family along though. What about the Respect campaign?

  8. It's a football match, it ain't the girl guides, if you want a non existent atmosphere perhaps you should nip down to Falmouth Town instead mate, more life in a tramp's vest than at Bickland these days
