Hemel Hempstead 0 Truro City 1

A "moment of magic" by New Zealander Zane Sole was enough to give City their third straight National League South win and move them up to 12th in the table. The young midfielder struck after 14 minutes at Vauxhall Road  with a superb free-kick from fully 25 yards, which gave Jamie Butler in the home goal no chance as it flew into the top corner. And it was a goal worthy winning of any game as City continued their much improved form with three more points at what is always a difficult ground. and City boss Lee Hodges was full of praise for his side who looked to have turned the corner after a difficult start to the season. He said: "It was a moment of magic by Zane. it was an unbelievable strike and their keeper did not have a hope of saving it."Again it was not the prettiest of games but the boys dogged it out. There were not a lot chances, but we again looked very solid with everyone working for each other."I believe in the players and they believe in me. To get nine points out of the last nine is fantastic and all down to the boys who have pulled on the shirt."

City: McHale; Bentley, Panzer, Pugh, Smith, Allen, Knowles, Sole, Richards, Thompson, Afful. Subs: William,s Adelsbury, Neal Berry, Brett.

Truro City 2 Margate 0 (Margate FC Report)

Margate fell to another Vanarama National League South defeat on Saturday as they went down 2-0 away at Truro City. The Gate, named a similar side to the one that won 6-1 at Greenwich Borough last week in the Kent Cup with the exception of new loanee goalkeeper Jonny Henly who started after joining the Gate on Friday on a 28 day loan from Hemel Hempstead.

Nikki Bull returned to the touchline after serving his two match ban and he watched on for the opening twenty minutes with neither side creating any chances with Alex Osborn and Marcel Barrington running the forward line.

The first half continued to be a game of very few chances with neither goalkeeper forced into making any saves as both defences cancelled out whatever little threat each attack offered.

Margate started the second half looking the much brighter of the two teams and they should have taken the lead in the 49th minute as Brett Johnson blazed a header over the bar from six yards after a wonderful cross from Lewis Taylor.

The Blues were punished for that miss just moments later as they fell behind in the 51st minute as Jamie Richards headed home a powerful header from a ball into the box past Henly.

The home side’s advantage was doubled just minutes later as River Allen turned a low cross past the despairing dive of Henly to send the hosts into a 2-0 lead.

Margate had a mountain to climb from there on and introduced both Jermaine Osei and Kane Rowland in order to try and reduce the deficit, however despite a couple of half chances each they couldn’t muster any real chances as they fell to a defeat that leaves the Blues sitting 18th in the Vanarama National League South table.

Attention now turns to the Blues next fixture as they welcome Oxford City to Hartsdown Park on Saturday 19th November 2016 with kick off at 3pm.

Ebbsfleet 4 Truro City 2

Ebbsfleet made it seven games without defeat in National League South after overcoming Truro on Saturday.
The result put Fleet second in the table with the gap closing again on leaders Maidenhead,
The Fleet made hard work of beating the visitors but two goals from Jack Powell proved decisive for Daryl McMahon's men before a flurry of late goals.

The home side dominated possession but it needed three goals in the final 16 minutes to take the points.

Fleet were unchanged from last weekend's win over Bath while Truro matched their 3-5-2 formation and gave debuts to Zane Sole and Durrell Berry.
Both teams had early chances although, in truth, neither side settled into a pattern of play particularly quickly.
River Allen and Ollie Knowles both had free-kicks for the visitors turned away by Fleet keeper Nathan Ashmore.
Fleet skipper Danny Kedwell fired wide at the other end while Sean Shields was denied a certain tap-in after patient build-up by Sam Deering when Berry made a terrific block inside his own six-yard box.
The hosts appeared to be getting into their stride as Darren McQueen wriggled between two defenders but keeper Tom McHale stood tall to keep his early shot away.
Fleet's pressure was rewarded on 27 minutes when McQueen and Anthony Cook combined to set up Jack Powell, his low shot beating McHale for his seventh goal of the season.
Truro stood firm, however, and came back into the game just before half-time. Striker Niall Thompson failed to connect after indecision at the back but he made no mistake on 43 minutes, sweeping home a right-wing centre to send the teams in level at half-time.
The visitors were largely untroubled early in the second half as Fleet found chances hard to come by.
But it needed a moment of quality from Powell to put the Fleet back infront on 76 minutes. Truro's defence sat back but Powell needed no second invitation and strode forward to curl home from the edge of the box.
That goal knocked the stuffing out of the visitors and Fleet suddenly started to play with more freedom.
They added a third on 82 minutes as McQueen fed Shields, whose low shot beat McHale with the aid of a slight deflection
Fleet made it 4-1 three minutes later as Powell turned provider, his deep corner headed in at the far post by Kenny Clark.
It ended up a comfortable win for the Fleet although they conceded a second goal three minutes into stoppages when substitute Andrew Neal nodded in at the far post.

St Albans City 5 Truro City 0

The Saints led from the moment Ben Martin headed home Lee Chappell’s corner on 11 minutes and they never looked back.
Four second half goals, two for Louie Theophanous and two for Junior Morias, cemented the win that keeps City in the league play-off places.
Having won 5-1 away at Bishop’s Stortford in the last game, City were back among the goals early in this encounter.
Direct running from winger Shaun Lucien won a corner and from the right skipper Chappell lofted in a set-piece which central defender Martin rose highest to meet and plant past keeper Tom McHale.
Midway through the half there was concern for the hosts as striker Sam Merson clashed heads with Truro defender Arran Pugh.
The Saints man stayed down and was briefly put in the recovery position, before sitting and then being led off the field.
Truro offered little threat going forward, they did force three corners in succession before the break, but did not worry home keeper James Russell.
Four minutes into the second half the hosts doubled their advantage.
Left back Tom Bender drilled the ball into the box to the feet of Theophanous, he found space to turn and fire a low effort into the back of the net.
Saints should have been 3-0 ahead when they broke following a Truro corner.
Lucien charged forward from his own half with the ball, beat a defender, but from inside the Truro box pulled his shot wide.
A third did come though as Lucian crossed for Morias, his shot was parried by the keeper Tom McHale, the ball was collected by Theophanous who rifled in.
With 10 minutes to go Saints hit a fourth as substitute Morias side-stepped his way through the tiring visiting defence to net.
In added on time Morias completed the rout tapping into an empty net after Rhys Hoenes’ cross from the right beat McHale.
The three points see Ian Allinson’s St Albans side fourth in the table.
City face London Colney on Monday at Clarence Park in the Herts Senior Cup before they welcome Carlisle on Saturday in the FA Cup.

Truro City 2 Eastbourne Borough 2

It might have been better still, but after leading for more than half of the game through an early Mark Hughes goal, the Sports conceded twice after half-time and had to battle for their point through a late Kiran Khinda-John (pictured) equaliser.
Borough have now not lost since the 5-1 home defeat to Chelmsford City in late September, when both centre-backs Ian Simpemba and Brian Dutton were red-carded. Since then, with a run of three draws and two victories, the Sports have proved themselves grittier and harder to beat.
A trip to West Cornwall requires almost military planning. The Borough coach set out from Priory Lane at 8.30am on Friday morning, setting the satnav for the Bristol Rovers training ground, where the squad trained before heading south-west for an overnight stay. The 600-mile round trip was completed close to midnight on Saturday. Once a season is quite enough, but at least this was no fruitless journey.
Tommy Widdrington, with a strong squad to choose from, rang one or two changes, giving a start at wing-back to Alex Smith and introducing new loan signing Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain into midfield. Truro also had a well-known newcomer in the person of Chris Todd, until recently manager of National League Eastleigh, and a top player in his own right.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, fresh in from Portsmouth, was instrumental in Eastbourne's early lead, driving in a corner from the left which Mark Hughes turned in from close range. The White Tigers have been relatively toothless for most of this season, and their fans must have feared the worst. But although the Sports dominated most of the first half they failed to add to the 1-0 advantage.
And in a rocky spell after half-time, the visitors suddenly found themselves 2-1 down. In a 58th minute breakaway attack Rocky Neal found Louis Rooney, whose shot from the edge of the box deflected painfully over Lewis Carey to equalise. Then six minutes later Niall Thompson's low drive put the White Tigers ahead.
As Borough pressed strongly for an equaliser, Widdrington introduced Miguel Baptista and then top scorer Elliott Romain - back from suspension - to fire his side forward, and the clock was ticking.
But the Sports, who were plagued throughout last year's campaign by the conceding of late goals, appear to have reversed that habit this season, and once again they finished strongly, equalising on 83 minutes. Centre-backs typically score their goals with thumping headers from corner-kicks, but this time Kiran Khinda-John showed his finesse, checking in from the left with a stylish finish into the far corner. A fair result, and a happier journey home.
