VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

Now the curtain has come down on 2013/14 Season it time for both Philip and me to learn from events and look towards improving the experience on match days at Treyew Road. Those who attended the recent award ceremony will be aware that the target for the 2014/15 is an average attendance of 500 for the first team matches. I would like to think we can sell 250 Season tickets. I realise that the only way of achieving this is by winning on the pitch and by providing a better match day experience. With this task in mind I will be working hard to get things in place ready for our first team league match scheduled to take place in August. The preliminary schedule set by Helical the ground developers is that Truro City will play at Treyew Road for the 2014/2015 season whilst our new facility is being built elsewhere in readiness for the 2015/2016 season. This is a massive challenge but one they feel they can achieve given that they get the necessary planning consents. On the pitch Steve and Wayne have already secured several new quality players and will shortly be announcing them as soon as pen is put to paper along with the preseason match line-ups. I shall be talking to the managers of the 2nd/Ladies teams shortly and agreeing next season’s strategy. Given that we may have only one season remaining clearly any further investment in Treyew Road would be futile, however there are projects that can be done on a volunteered basis which will enhance the existing facilities with the minimum of financial outlay. With this in mind Ron Ratchford has kindly offered to head up the various projects. TCFC and Helical announce development plans for Club Joint announcement by Helical Retail Ltd and Truro City Football Club Truro City Football Club (TCFC) has taken a further step in its quest to bring Conference Premier level football to Cornwall following a joint agreement with developers Helical Retail Ltd on its relocation. Helical entered into a development agreement with JIL, the owners of the TCFC site, in November 2012 and have been working up their proposals since that time. Helical and TCFC have announced that the current football ground at Treyew Road will be redeveloped as a retail park to be called Truro City Shopping Park. Proceeds from the development will pay for the relocation of the Club. Peter Masters, Chairman and co-owner of TCFC, alongside Pep Perryman said: “After protracted and sometimes tough negotiations with the developers we are delighted that we have been able to reach agreement that will ensure the TCFC will be able to facilitate football at Conference Premier Level, albeit on an alternative site subject to our existing home at Treyew Road being granted the necessary planning permissions. It has long been thought that the club should relocate to the Stadium Site at Langarth Farm, which is still a very real possibility but we are also in advanced discussions with the Tregothnan Estate, for an alternative site at Nansavallan, enabling the club to develop much needed footballing facilities commensurate with Conference Premier Football, Ladies and a much needed Youth academy which is vital to the long term sustainability of Truro City Football Club and Cornish football as a whole”. The proposed shopping park will comprise a number of large, non-food retail units, bringing new retailers to Truro that currently cannot find suitable sites in the City Centre. Philip King a representative from Helical said: “We have been encouraged by the significant demand from furniture, kitchen, electrical, home store and fashion retailers who would like to trade in Truro but there is no suitable available accommodation. These retailers would be considering schemes in St Austell and Hayle if it wasn’t for these proposals. Details of the scheme will be released when the consultation process commences shortly but we can assure residents it will be designed to complement the surrounding area, it will be of a very high quality and constructed to meet exacting sustainability standards. This is a very exciting plan.”

TISA Annual Boat Trip

This year the boat trip will be on Saturday May 31st leaving Falmouth at 19:00 and returning at 22:00 so that we are in time to get the last train back from Falmouth to Truro.  The cost is £10 adults and £5  for under 18s.  ALL ARE WELCOME – members and non-Members alike. The price will include musical entertainment on board which we hope will be a live act and details will be confirmed soon.

Truro City - Comings & Goings.......

Truro City boss Steve Tully has continued his team building plans for next season, with four more players signing up for the 2014-15 campaign.
Striker and supporters’ player of the year Cody Cooke, players’ player Shane White, Warren Daw (most improved young player of the year) and big defender Arran Pugh have all signed up for next season.
They join midfielder Joe Broad, club captain Jake Ash, striker Ben Watson, keeper Grant Fisher and new team captain Dan Green in next season’s definite squad, while midfielder Neil Slateford and striker Liam Eddy have agreed deals, but are yet to sign.
Four players – Olly Brokenshire, Jordan Copp, keeper Ollie Chenoweth and Jared Sims – have been released, while central defender Paul Kendall is away travelling for six months.
Tully has already spoken to a few targets for next season, as he looks to build a squad capable of mounting a promotion challenge from the Southern League’s premier division.
This season City finished 17th.

2013-14 Awards

As everyone knows yesterday after the Burnham match and the season completed, the end of season's Club Awards were presented in the clubhouse.

On behalf of himself and Vice chairman Pepe Perryman, Chairman Peter Masters started with giving their thanks to the following - Baz Milligan and Ron Ratchford for the time they spend on the ground and surrounds; TISA for their support in the selling of the season tickets; Jo-Anne Larcombe for her Chaplain Programme notes; Gemma and her turnstile staff; the L2 staff; Thornes Fruit & Veg Ltd for their supplies during the season; Sponsors Truro and Penwith College; Solicitors Nalders and accountants Bishop Fleming for their continued input into business matters and finally to Vaughan Pickhaver and City Media for the filming and photography that appears on the club's website.

Sincere and special thanks with presentations were made to the following:-
Caroline Hargreaves for her fund raising efforts on the 50/50 at the gate - over £2251 raised for the club's funds;
Dave Deacon for producing a match programme for each home game of both the first and seconds teams throughout the season;
Tom Trust and Mike Burns for their match day tannoy announcement work;
Ron Ratchford collected a case of Crabbie's;
and Eddie Owen and Tracey Finemore for all their work in cleaning the players kit, amongst other duties they carry out on behalf of the club.

Moving onto the players:-
There was an award for the Best Local Talent for the season and both Neil Slateford and Liam Eddy collected trophies
The Most Improved Player was Warren Daw
The first team's Golden Boot went to Ben Watson who's goal on the day took him onto 13 since joining the club during the season and one ahead of Liam Eddy
The vote from the supporters at the game for their Player of the Season saw 68% of the nominations go to Cody Cooke
The players all signed a football for a special presentation and thank you to the Baynham family who, based in Coventry, have covered an amazing 16,000 miles in following the club this season

Steve Tully's Manager's Player of the Season went to Shane White, who also came back up for the Players Player of the Season.
Tulls also took the time to say a big thank you to the Chairman for giving him the last 10 games of the season as manager and feels in that time that the club has moved forward and the aim now is to return it to being a Conference South club where it deserves to be and he, along with assistant Wayne Carlisle, will be endeavouring to attract players of that standard to the club as the aim is to move the club forward.

Second team manager John Peters was also present and pleased to say that his improved team are still looking for at least a top six finish in the SWPL Division One West this season.
He gave a thank you to the chairman for his support, as well as to his management staff of Robin Watt, Steve Flack and Vic Osborne and also mentioned that the support from the first team has been fantastic.
He confirmed that the aim is to get the team out of the Division One West, if not this season certainly next season before announcing his teams awards.
These were : Players player - Frazer Cadman
While the Management's award from the four of them went to a player who never misses a training session and is always amongst the first to arrive for a game : Scott Palmer.
The Young Player of the Year went to 16 year old Kieran Parker.

Onto the Chairman's Player of the Season and in line with the supporters choice this went to Cody Cooke who Peter Masters described as a player who always gives a 110%, and in his opinion has the right attitude for the game and is a credit to his parents. There wasn't much more he could add that hasn't already been said about the player over the last couple of seasons, except he wasn't too complimentary about his glass collecting!

Finally to the TISA (Truro Independent Supporters Association) awards. These were announced by their Secretary Simon Birch, who firstly commented on how fantastic for them it had been to yet again support the team in their travels and they were very much looking forward to the next few seasons and the feeling was really positive.
The TISA's Player of the Year was Cody Cooke, with the TISA Supporter of the Season being Paul Condon.
Their Raffle prize - a signed Barry Hayles shirt - was won by Brian Thompson.

Truro City boss Tully planning for promotion challenge next season

Truro City bring the curtain down on their season at home to Burnham on Saturday (3pm), but manager Steve Tully and assistant Wayne Carlisle are already well advanced in their planning to mount a promotion challenge for the next campaign.
The game will be the pair’s tenth in charge and three points against the struggling Buckinghamshire visitors will give them a fourth win in City’s last five Calor League premier division outings.
And after giving the players May off, it will be back to a once a week “training camp” in June before a return to full time training in July, ahead of the start of the new league season on August 9.
Friendlies are starting to be lined-up, with matches against Falmouth Town, Helston, Bath City, Weston-super-Mare and either Torquay United or Plymouth Argyle in the pipeline.
Contract offers have gone out to a number of players, including joint top scorer Liam Eddy, as Tully looks to firm up his squad for a promotion challenge next season.
The City boss said: “Liam is raw but he knows how to make the right runs in the box to score goals and you can’t teach that.
“If we can get him fitter he will score goals. We want him to stay here and he wants to stay.”
He and Carlisle will be holding a meeting with the squad on Tuesday to set out the way ahead over the summer.
Tully is also keen on building better links with local clubs and intends to meet several clubs over the coming weeks.
He said: “We need to build bridges with them, so perhaps we could loan a couple of players to them and we could help each other.”
Tully intends to get together a squad of 15-16, plus three or four trialists, for pre-season.
And he added that he was excited about the challenge ahead.
He said: “This is only the beginning. It is all about building momentum.”
After the game, the end of season awards ceremony takes place in the clubhouse. A
poll for the Supporters' Player of the season will take place at the match and fans are urged to vote.
