2013-14 FIXTURES
The eagerly-awaited fixtures for the new season have been issued this morning and give us an interesting Home game v Bedford Town on 17 August to start the season. Interestingly our first time into the Southern League Premier Division in 2009-10 also started with a game against Bedford Town although that time it was away at The Eyrie and gave us our first win 2-0 in that division with Les Afful making his debut for the club.
The Bedford Town game is followed by two away games at Bashley and Hinckley United in the first week of the season and gives our new team and supporters a taste of the travelling in the season of about 11500 miles for the away League fixtures. Bank Holiday Monday 26 August brings us a home derby against our nearest neighbours Bideford which should be a bumper day. We have the return fixture at Bideford on Boxing Day and will welcome Weymouth to Treyew Road on New Year’s Day with a chance to meet up again with a few of our old friends in Danny Clay, Scottie Walker, Barry McConnell and Stewart Yetton. We will make the return trip to Weymouth in the penultimate game of the Season on Easter Monday.
Although we will be making re-acquaintance with a good few old friends from our previous time in this League, we are also meeting quite a few clubs for the first time in League games- Hinckley United, St Neots Town, Poole Town, St Albans City, Biggleswade Town, Hungerford Town, Redditch United, Corby Town, and Arlesey Town. We also have the chance to go to see old friends AFC Totton who many of you will know have a new home at Testwood Stadium since we last played them. Plenty of interesting excursions for our intrepid travelling fans in the coming months!
The release of fixtures each year produces a buzz and brings the new season very much closer to everybody so bring it on and let’s show them with bumper crowds at Treyew Road giving the boys loads of support.
