HELSTON  Athletic manager Sid Taylor has not ruled out the possibility of Liam Eddy remaining at Kellaway Parc – if first-team football at Truro City is not guaranteed, writes Lee Hall.

Eddy returned from holiday yesterday and is expected to feature in City's final pre-season friendly at Tiverton on Friday night.

City boss Steve Massey is expected to make a decision on a number of players who have been training with the club, including Eddy, ahead of the new season.

However, Taylor believes the pacey striker will only leave the Blues if he knows he is going to feature on a regular basis for Truro in the Southern League this season.

 

Eddy left Truro four years ago after failing to hold down a regular starting place at Treyew Road.
But the forward has developed into one of the South West Peninsula League's most potent strikers and City have been impressed with what they have seen during his trial spell back at the club.

Taylor said: "I'm still not 100 per cent sure about what's happening with Liam.  Nothing has changed because he has been on holiday.

Plans:

"If the right deal comes along then I'm sure Liam will give it a go. I think it will all come down to where he would fit into Truro's plans.

"If there is an opportunity to play first-team football then I'm sure he would take it. But if he's going to be in and out, playing in the second team then I think he'll stay here."

With Eddy expected to play for Truro on Friday, it is unlikely he will feature in Helston's final game of pre-season at home to Wendron United on Saturday.

City Alerts - Second team fixture amendments

The club received advice from Ivybridge Town that they would be unable to fulfil the friendly fixture on Wednesday due to a large injury list.

 

We have now arranged alternative opponents and the match on Wednesday 7th Aug will now be:-

 

Truro City 2nds v St Blazey with Kick Off at 7.45pm instead of 7.30pm.

 

St Blazey are at the same level as Ivybridge Town in the SWPL so it should be a good test for our second team.

Masters appoints Mercedes as the new team coach

In the ever-increasing show of commitment to our club, Peter Masters and Pep Perryman have today announced they have purchased a team coach of the highest spec.  Not only does this ensure our players arrive in comfort, but also fresh to play a decent game of football.  Furthermore, it puts out a clear message to players that this is THE club in Cornwall to aspire to.  On board facilities include a large flat screen tv, live Sky tv, face to face leather reclining seating, galley refreshments area, entertainment hook-ups plus more.

Peter Masters said today on City Alerts: 

"We are pleased to announce that both Philip and I have purchased a Mercedes Team Coach for use by the Truro City Football Teams on their away fixtures. The Coach itself is fully fitted with every conceivable extra and built specifically as a Football Team Coach.

The decision to make the investment was taken based on the amount of travelling anticipated in the foreseeable future and the added benefit of ensuring that team Truro City arrive at their matches in the best possible condition to achieve the desired results we all want and expect.

The Coach is currently being prepared for the first away Match at Bashley on the 20th August."

The first home match of the season kicks off on Saturday 17th August against Bedford Town.
