Truro City 0 Dunstable Town 0
City suffered a frustrating Saturday afternoon at a windswept Treyew Road as they were unable to break down a determined Dunstable side.
But with other results in the Evo Stik Southern premier division largely going their way, they stay third in the table, two points clear of Weymouth who were held to a 3-3 draw at home to bottom club Burnham.
In a strong wind, the game was never going to be a classic, but City will feel they had enough of the play to have taken all three points, but instead played out their first 0-0 draw of the season.
The home side had their chances with Isaac Vassell their biggest threat, but he was twice denied by Charlie May in the visitors' goal and when City did get the ball in the net from Shane Krac's corner the "goal" was ruled out for a push on the keeper.
City boss Steve Tully gave a first start to on-loan signing from Plymouth Argyle River Allen, with Ryan Brett coming in at left back for Danny Greenslade who has been called back by parent club Bristol Rovers.
With Rob Farkins and Arran Pugh suspended, Ed Palmer returned after his ban to partner Jake Ash at the heart of the City defence.
Against the wind in the first half, City had to do their share of defending, but young keeper Tom McHale was again very solid, though he will have been relieved to see Chris Marsh's far post header go just wide from a Charlie Henry cross.
It was City though who were creating the better openings with Vassell volleying over from close range and then being denied by May's fingertip save.
Cody Cooke also just headed over as the breakthrough would not come.
In the second half, City continued to press with Vassell shooting at May who also did well to push away Brett's free-kick.
Great work by sub Craig Duff set up an opening for Vassell but his close range effort flew over the bar.
City thought they had broken the deadlock when Krac's corner from the left found the net, but their joy soon turned to disappointment as the linesman controversially flagged for a foul on keeper May.
However, for all their pressing City could not find that precious goal and had to be content with a share of the spoils ahead of what looks like a pivotal Easter weekend at Redditch on Saturday and at home to Weymouth on Easter Monday.
Speaking after the game City boss Tully said: "It was just one of those days and full credit to Dunstable. Conditions were horrible and at the end of the day, while we are disappointed not to have taken all the points, it was another point gained and other results went our way. We now have a big weekend ahead of us.
"I thought Tom McHale was excellent in goal and Jake Ash and Ed Palmer did well in the defence as did Ryan Brett at left back on his return.
"We move on and now look forward to Redditch on Saturday."
