Truro City 0 Dunstable Town 0
City suffered a frustrating Saturday afternoon at a windswept Treyew Road as they were unable to break down a determined Dunstable side.
But with other results in the Evo Stik Southern premier division largely going their way, they stay third in the table, two points clear of Weymouth who were held to a 3-3 draw at home to bottom club Burnham.
In a strong wind, the game was never going to be a classic, but City will feel they had enough of the play to have taken all three points, but instead played out their first 0-0 draw of the season.
The home side had their chances with Isaac Vassell their biggest threat, but he was twice denied by Charlie May in the visitors' goal and when City did get the ball in the net from Shane Krac's corner the "goal" was ruled out for a push on the keeper.
City boss Steve Tully gave a first start to on-loan signing from Plymouth Argyle River Allen, with Ryan Brett coming in at left back for Danny Greenslade who has been called back by parent club Bristol Rovers.
With Rob Farkins and Arran Pugh suspended, Ed Palmer returned after his ban to partner Jake Ash at the heart of the City defence.
Against the wind in the first half, City had to do their share of defending, but young keeper Tom McHale was again very solid, though he will have been relieved to see Chris Marsh's far post header go just wide from a Charlie Henry cross.
It was City though who were creating the better openings with Vassell volleying over from close range and then being denied by May's fingertip save.
Cody Cooke also just headed over as the breakthrough would not come.
In the second half, City continued to press with Vassell shooting at May who also did well to push away Brett's free-kick.
Great work by sub Craig Duff set up an opening for Vassell but his close range effort flew over the bar.
City thought they had broken the deadlock when Krac's corner from the left found the net, but their joy soon turned to disappointment as the linesman controversially flagged for a foul on keeper May.
However, for all their pressing City could not find that precious goal and had to be content with a share of the spoils ahead of what looks like a pivotal Easter weekend at Redditch on Saturday and at home to Weymouth on Easter Monday.
Speaking after the game City boss Tully said: "It was just one of those days and full credit to Dunstable. Conditions were horrible and at the end of the day, while we are disappointed not to have taken all the points, it was another point gained and other results went our way. We now have a big weekend ahead of us.
"I thought Tom McHale was excellent in goal and Jake Ash and Ed Palmer did well in the defence as did Ryan Brett at left back on his return.
"We move on and now look forward to Redditch on Saturday."

Chippenham Town 1 v Truro City 2
A robust encounter saw Truro enhance their play off credentials as they left Wiltshire with all three points
CHIPPENHAM TOWN 1 2 TRURO CITY – Sat 21st March 2015
A robust encounter saw Truro enhance their play off credentials as they left Wiltshire with all three points with a goal in each half at the same time recording a league double over the Bluebirds.
An early free kick, from James Guthrie, saw visiting custodian Tom McHale nervously turn the ball out for a fruitless corner.
The White Tigers took the lead on six minutes when a low through ball found Isaac Vassell and he rounded Kent Kauppinen before rolling the ball home despite the attentions of two home defenders on the line.
Chippenham should have equalised five minutes later when Conor McCormack's ball over the defence left Charlie Griffin with only keeper McHale to beat but he headed over the bar.
The Cornish side then saw wayward efforts from Shane White and Jake Ash go way off target. Kauppinen then did well to tip over an effort from Shane Krac. After the break Griffin's headed effort was blocked as was Ashan Holgate's follow-up shot.
Truro's Cody Cooke saw a 49th minute shot go high. Kauppinen then did well to deny Vassell's from close range.
Truro made the game safe 20 minutes from time when Kauppinen needlessly fouled substitute Craig Duff who had his back to goal on the byline and Shane White converted the resultant penalty.
The visitors survived appeals for a handball in the area on 76 minutes and two minutes later Alex Ferguson's shot was blocked. The Bluebirds pulled a goal back three minutes into stoppage time when Ferguson tucked away a low cross from the right.

Slough Town 1 Truro City 2
Two goals by Isaac Vassell gave City three more precious points in their charge towards the end of season play-offs, but it came at a cost with defenders Rob Farkins and Arran Pugh collecting their tenth and 15th bookings of the season respectively, meaning they face two and three match bans.
Vassell struck first after 20 minutes following a mistake by home keeper Williams and then three minutes into the second half after his first effort was blocked by Williams.
But the home side set up an anxious finale after 55 minutes when Rob Farkins was penalised for handball, with Scott Harris beating Tom McHale from the penalty spot.
And to make matters worse the City defender was booked for the tenth time this season meaning he faces a two game ban.
It was one of five City yellow cards of the match, one of which went to Arran Pugh on his 200th appearance for the club and that was his 15th of the campaign and he now will be banned for three games.
City though held firm for a vital win which keeps them fourth in the Evo-Stik Southern premier division table, five points clear of Hungerford Town who drew 1-1 with sixth-placed St Neots Town.
Promotion rivals Weymouth won 1-0, Corby Town 2-1 and leaders Poole 2-0.
City boss Steve Tully said he was delighted with the three points and was glad his defenders' bans came now rather than later in the season with the play-offs looking.
"We have cover with Ed Palmer coming back so I think we will be fine," he said.
"In the first half we played some great football and could have been two or three up. The penalty lifted them but we showed plenty of steel and guts to seen the game out

Truro City 2 Biggleswade Town 1
A dramatic late winner from substitute Craig Duff earned City a priceless three points in their hunt for a place in the end of season plays-off, as they came from behind to beat a determined Biggleswade side.
Duff pounced, with just seven minutes left, as he finished off a fine move to round Biggleswade keeper Ian Brown and find the empty net for his 19th goal of the season.
It completed a fine comeback by the home side, who had gone 1-0 down on the hour mark to a superb strike by Lee Allinson, with Matt Wright's header levelling four minutes later.
And the victory, City's ninth in their last ten matches at Treyew, was enough to lift them a place up the table to fourth.
Rivals Weymouth threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at home to Dunstable, while Hungerford lost 1-0 at Frome.
The new leaders are Corby Town, who came from behind to beat bottom club Burnham 3-1
They replaced Poole Town, who were without a match, but have played four games more.
With it so close at the top, City needed badly the win against the Bedfordshire side and in the first half had the better chances.
The fit again Isaac Vassell was denied by Biggleswade keeper Ian Brown when put through by Wright.
And the visitors' No1 produced a breathtaking save to keep out Wright's volley, as he dived to his left to turn the striker's effort around the post.
Biggleswade though also carried an attacking threat with young City keeper Tom McHale, on only his second league start , blocking Kelvin Bossman's close range effort and also deny Jay Davies at close range.
In the second half, City continued to press, but were undone after 61 minutes when a quick break from a City corner ended with Allinson thundering a tremendous 25-yard strike past a helpless McHale.
City though responded also immediately with Wright getting on the end of a Shane White cross from the right to power a header past Brown.
It was game on and it was Duff who was the City hero as he ended a lean spell to seal a victory which could well prove pivotal come the end of April.
City: McHale; Farkins, Pugh, Greenslade (Brett 69) , White, Green, Ash (capt), Krac, Cooke (Duff 78), Wright, Vassell (Afful 65). Subs (not used): Hayles, Moore.

Cirencester Town 2 Truro City 0
CIRENCESTER Town recorded a vital win against fellow play-off contenders Truro City at the Corinium Stadium.
After missing the defeat to Weymouth due to injury, Ed Williams was restored to the starting XI and fellow youngster Jacob Davidge was included in place of sidelined Nat Jarvis.
In what was a cagey start to affairs, the home team had the best of only a handful of early opportunities as striker Davidge was foiled by Kyle Moore after he met a deep cross.
City’s focal point of attack Les Afful almost capitalised on Glyn Garner’s indecisiveness before the veteran goalie managed to gather the ball safely.
Truro’s particularly enthusiastic travelling contingent were momentarily silenced as Davidge latched on to a neat through ball to calmly finish beyond Moore.
The visitors almost equalised on the half-hour. The lively Afful was instrumental in Truro’s best chance of the half, playing the ball to Danny Green, who skied over.
The second 45 minutes produced a livelier restart as Williams sent a volley inches past the post.
Davidge netted his second goal of the game with just over 20 minutes to play as substitute Ben Wells played a delicious pass behind the defence for the striker to place into the left hand corner.
Truro could have found a lifeline soon after but Cody Cook failed to convert from the penalty spot.
Even the introduction of former Premier League veteran and Cheltenham Town striker Barry Hayles could not affect the outcome in what proved a frustrating afternoon for the men in white, whilst Cirencester could rejoice as they moved just four points behind their visitors in seventh.
Next Saturday the Centurions face another rival in St Neots Town, where they will be hoping to continue this fine form for a crucial period in the season.
Cirencester: Garner, Herring, Dunton, Pritchet(c), Liddiard, Jones, Hooper, Mortimer-Jones, Davidge, Bennet, Williams.
Truro: Moore, White, Greenslade, Ash (c), Farkins, Pugh, Green, Palmer, Wright, Afful, Krae.
Referee: Christopher Kidd.
