Truro City suffer last minute heartbreak as they draw again (by Rhod Mitchell)

Bashley 2 Truro City 2

Truro City were denied their first win of the season in the Calor League premier division when the Bashley scored a last minute equaliser on Tuesday night as the White Tigers drew 2-2 for the second successive game.

But whereas against Bedford Town on Saturday, when it was City who rescued a point with Jordan Copp’s last minute penalty this time it was the visitors who were left frustrated at not hanging on for the victory after leading 2-0 after 40 thanks to two own goals by Gary Middleton and Morris.

But a Jack Odam goal right on half time gave Bashley hope and they looked to have done enough for victory until former Torquay United striker Tim Sills headed home a Josh Casey corner in the final minute to leave City 12th in the table after two games.

City’s misery was then compounded in stoppage time when left back Warren Daw suffered what looked like a serious looking arm injury following a late challenge.

City boss Steve Massey made two changes from the team that started against Bedford, with City’s FA Vase winning keeper Dan Stevenson replacing the unavailable Ollie Chenoweth and Olly Brokenshire coming into the midfield for for Jed Harper-Penman.

Stevenson has signed as cover from Launceston with Chenoweth’s new job looking set to make him unavailable for some midweek games.

Also on the bench was new signing Raif Gwinnett , who played with Salisbury City in pre-season.

City are next in action at Hinckley on Saturday and then at home to Bideford on Monday (3pm).

City: Stevenson; White, Ash (capt), Evans, Daw; Afful, Sims (Swain 63), Cooke, Brokenshire, Copp (Broomfield 78); Eddy (Coombes 68). Subs (not used): Harper-Penman, Gwinnet.
