THE WHITE Tigers ended East Thurrock United's unbeaten start to the season and in doing so roared to the top of the Vanarama National League South table with a 2-1 victory at Rookery Hill.
We started the game well and saw plenty of the early ball, although we were restricted to few real opportunities by our hosts.
After Tyler Harvey had fired over from distance, a cross-come-shot from Aaron Lamont almost caught the home 'keeper out as it shaved the post.
The deadlock was finally broken on 21 minutes when saw sloppy defensive play by the home team presented Harvey with a chance but as the 'keeper recovered to block his effort, Noah Keats was on hand to tuck home the loose ball.
There was a definite edge creeping into the game as the opening period went on with both team showing passion, which spilled over into a melee that resulted in Ed Palmer receiving his marching orders.
With a man advantage, the hosts pushed for a leveller and they went close when Simon Peddie set up Lewis Smith who saw his strike deflected inches wide.
East Thurrock took this momentum into the start of the second half and Femi Akinwande was soon denied by Tom McHale as we had to withstand some pressed.
Our resistance was finally broken just after the hour-mark when Sam Higgins played in Smith who made it 1-1 with a neat finish.
Boosted by the goal, the home side continued to look the most likely side and had a penalty appeal waved away when the lively Smith was brought down.
Peddie went close as the clock ticked down but it was to be City who got the winning goal with two minutes left on the clock as substitute, River Allen, was sent crashing inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot.
Connor Riley-Lowe kept a cool head to step up and fire home to give us our SEVENTH straight victory... outstanding stuff and a real credit to all involved.

Truro City 2 AFC Portchester 0
Truro moved into the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup with a hard-fought win over their Hampshire visitors at a muddy Treyew Road.
Late goals by substitutes Rocky Neal and Niall Thompson made it six league and cup wins for Lee Hodges's team, who will be hoping for another home tie in Monday's draw.
But they were made to work hard by the well-organised AFC Portchester side who play three levels below that of National League South City in the premier division of the Sydenhams Wessex League.
Thoughts were heading towards a Tuesday night replay when City at last broke the deadlock with 17 minutes left.
The goal was set up by outstanding right wing-back Billy Palfrey who broke in from the right and his cross was bundled in by Neal, as last season's top scorer came off the bench to score for the second successive game after getting the winner in the midweek 1-0 victory over Chippenham Town.
Neal then turned provider four minutes from time, when his cross was tucked away from close range by Thompson for his first goal of the season.
City boss Hodges had named an unchanged team from the one that started. Tuesday's 1-0 National League South win over Chippenham Town, but as it was an FA Cup game had the luxury of being able to name seven substitutes, though only able to use three.
City began well and Tyler Harvey was only denied by a superb save from Portchester keeper Lewis Noice, who somehow pushed his glancing header from Billy Palfrey's right wing cross onto the post.
Noice was soon in action again as he tipped a powerful Ed Palmer free-kick over the bar.
The visitors also had defender Daniel Hayes yellow carded for bringing down Cody Cooke when the City striker looked to run clear.
The Hampshire visitors though also showed they were a goal threat, with striker Bobby Scott denied by City keeper Tom McHale after being put clear.
And later in the half, Scott headed tamely straight at McHale from a cross by right back Robert Evans.
City seemed to lose their way as the half progressed and it was the visitors who would have delighted to go in 0-0 at the break.
Ben Harding flashed a volley just wide for City at the start of the second half, while at the other end McHale tipped over a long range free kick from Portchester skipper Joe Bye.
And McHale had to be at his best soon after after when Robert Evans released Scott, with the home keeper deflecting his shot for a corner.
City continued to press, with Palmer having an effort cleared off the line before Neal finally got the vital breakthrough.
Noah Keats almost made it 2-0, but his shot hit the post and Portchester defender John Warren also struck the woodwork with a header in a frantic finish.
But Thompson then ended the visitors' brave resistance with City's second and they can now look forward to a third qualifying round tie and the the chance to make club history by reaching the fourth qualifying round for the fourth time.

Three days after their trip to Kent in the East of England, the Bluebirds were on their travels again, this time in the opposite direction to Truro City.
There a depleted Chippenham side fell to defeat in wet and windy Cornwall.
The Bluebirds were without several key players and finished the match with ten men after Andy Sandell was shown a straight red card a minute after coming off the bench.
The result saw Truro move up to second in the league whilst the Bluebirds dropped two places to fifteenth. Chippenham more than held their own in the opening forty five minutes, despite the home side winning the corner count 5-2.
However, after the interval the home side cranked up the pressure and scored the decisive goal eight minutes into the half.
On-loan Swindon Town youngster Scott Twine was instrumental in Chippenham's early attacks; he was off target with an early shot, before setting up Matt Smith who similarly failed to hit the target.
Just past the midway point a strong run by Smith saw his shot blocked by a Truro defender with appeals for hands being turned down by referee James Durson.
Truro’s main threats centred around Cody Cooke who also failed to hit the target with two early efforts.
Cooke also saw a shot blocked by the Bluebirds defence and his effort from the rebound went wide. Just before the interval Truro almost opened the scoring when a shot hit the bar.
The White Tigers scored the all important goal on fifty three minutes when half time substitute Andrew Neal, who had replaced Cooke, fired home from outside of the box.
Ten minutes from time Truro’s Noah Keats shot was blocked, whilst Chippenham’s misery was compounded two minutes from time when Sandell received a straight red card.

LEE BRADBURY was left cursing being hit by a ‘mugging’ as Hawks fell to stoppage-time defeat. Truro carried out a smash-and-grab at Westleigh Park as they picked up a 2-1 victory in the National League South. Cody Cooke’s 94th-minute sucker-punch ensured Bradbury’s men came away empty-handed and stalled their impressive form. Sub Alfie Rutherford set his side on the way as they dominated, before Noah Keats levelled in the 69th minute. Then came the last-ditch blow which left Bradbury scratching his head how his side lost.He said: ‘How did we lose that? That’s what a real mugging looks like.‘We dominated possession for the whole game and created chances.‘We deserved to win it only to get sucker-punched in the 94h minute. We didn’t deserve that. ‘We dominated the whole game and I couldn’t ask for anymore from the players. ‘The players worked hard and we got our noses in front with a great goal‘Then the mix-up allows them the equaliser, and at the end we had more than enough at the back to deal with it.‘You have to feel for the players.’ The Hawks continued their recent trend of starting well by pinning the visitors back in their own territory during the early stages.Truro goalkeeper Tom McHale was forced to punch out a threatening Brian Stock free-kick from the left.McHale was soon in action again making a point-blank far-post save to keep out a Theo Lewis volley. It was a strong opening from the hosts after three successive wins. Despite doing the majority of the attacking the Hawks were finding Truro difficult to break down, though.Andreas Robinson went closest to breaking the deadlock on 35 minutes flashing a diving header past the upright from a corner. The Hawks were soon back on the attack at the start of the second half with Rory Williams thundering an angled shot wide of the target.Twelve minutes after the restart Rutherford was sent on in place of Mike Carter as the home side chased the game. The change did the trick and the breakthrough came after 65 minutes with a stunning Rutherford strike.Picking the ball up just inside the visitor’s half he burst forward and from 20 yards thundered his shot into the net via the underside of the crossbar. Within four minutes, however, the visitors equalised as Noah Keats punished the Hawks after they failed to clear their lines.McHale denied the Hawks a winner with a fabulous one-handed save to keep out a George Barker free-kick which was heading for the top corner. But deep into stoppage time Truro snatched the win when they caught the Hawks on the break and Cooke fired past the advancing Ryan Young.

Hemel Hempstead Town 1 Truro City 2
Watch Video Highlights Here: http://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/match-info/match-centre/1-2850504
THE WHITE Tigers came from behind to secure an excellent 2-1 victory at Hemel Hempstead Town to make it two wins in a row.
We had an early opportunity to take the lead when a corner found the head of Ben Gerring whose towering effort flashed just wide of the target.
It acted as a wake-up call for the home side who started to get into their stride with Ben Greenhalgh going close before James Kaloczi was denied by a smart save from Tom McHale.
The home side had the ball in the net when Charlie Sheringham touched home a header from close range but the offside flag ruled out his effort.
There was another save from McHale to deny Greenhalgh as he latched onto a through-ball but the resistance was finally broken five minutes from the break when a corner found the head of Tom Hamblin who made no mistake.
Their lead was almost doubled on the stroke of half-time but this time Hamblin was off target with his header.
Having been second-best for much of the opening period, The White Tigers came out for the second period with renewed vigour and determination.
We enjoyed the majority of possession and went close on a couple of occasions before Cody Cooke levelled matters as he guided the ball home just before the hour-mark.
It was a deserved equaliser and we went on to rattle the woodwork as we searched for the winner.
The all-important goal came on 82 minutes when Noah Keats was able to get in a low strike that evaded the 'keeper to complete our comeback and secure a hard-earned three points.
